You are not forgotten

Sis. Stella Dhinakaran

This world treats the “needy” and the “poor” with disrespect. They have to live a life in which they are forsaken by all. But to turn down this worldly norm, the Lord Jesus came into this world in a humble form as the Son of Man who had nowhere to lay His head (Matthew 8:20; Luke 9:58). He became poor so that we might become “rich” through His poverty (2 Corinthians 8:9). Yes! He came to “raise the poor from the dust and to lift the needy from the ash heap” (Psalm 113:7; I Samuel 2:8).

In a family, all the brothers except the last one were educated, employed in high positions and were well settled. Unlike them, the youngest brother lacked everything and therefore the world looked down upon him. But he believed in the Lord Jesus alone and was filled by His love. He always rejoiced in the Lord. So the Lord exalted him step by step according to the verse “Whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe” (Proverbs 29:25) and made him reach a status higher than his brothers and also to be god - fearing.
Dearly beloved, you need not worry at all saying, “I am poor and needy and I have inadequacies.” Because, His word says, “For the needy shall not always be forgotten; the expectation of the poor shall not perish forever” (Psalm 9:18).  Let your firm trust be on the Lord alone.   Do not compare yourself with others.  God will make everything beautiful in His time.  Your focus on Him will attract God’s grace and men’s favour, which will lift you to unimaginable heights.  You will not be put to shame. You will be lifted high above the people who insult you.  Keep trusting God!
Prayer:
Our Father who knows the depths of our hearts,

You know the poor, the needy and the forsaken in this world.  Your eyes are on them constantly, to bless them with Your riches.  Lord, I trust You regarding all my needs.  You will not leave me for long to remain in shame.  Arise O Lord and hold my hand to lead me in Your paths.  Meet all the needs of my spirit, soul and body.  Make me a blessing to my family and nation.  In Jesus’ name I pray, O Father, Amen.
