Thank The Lord, Always!

"I will extol the LORD at all times; his praise will always be on my lips." (Psalm 34:1)
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, the Bible says in Psalm 126:3 that "The LORD has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy." Yes! Today we are joyful because He has done great things in our life. As we recollect the past life of ours, we can realize how much the Lord has given us. People in this world may lack so many things but as we are with God, we will lack nothing. We receive good things from Him even before we think or imagine about it. We read in the Bible how the Israelites, the chosen people of God praised Him. When the Israelites returned to Israel from Babylon, where they were taken as captive, they praised God by singing songs of His wonders and the great things that He had done. They must have felt it to be a dream and that is why they praised the Lord with all their heart. King David also praises the Lord always as this; in Psalm 9:1 he says "I will give thanks to you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds." He says that he will mention the wonders of the Lord one by one and thank Him, all his life.

However, the Israelites failed to count the blessings of the Lord and to praise Him all through their lives. They praised the Lord whenever He protected them and in the course of time they forgot to glorify the Lord. In Psalms 106: 21-25 we read that the Israelites forgot the God who saved them out of Egypt and the One who did miraculous things by splitting the red sea and destroying the Egyptian army. God had promised them several good things to follow in their lives but they grumbled in their tents. So God punished them! In verse 26 we read "So he swore to them with uplifted hand that he would make them fall in the wilderness". After this they couldn’t come out of their downfall. It was a pathetic situation they faced. This is why I encourage you to Praise the Lord at all times. David says in Psalm 34:1 that "I will bless the LORD at all times. His praise shall continually be in my mouth." Apostle Paul also says something similar in Ephesians 6:18 "..pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests." Praying is not just placing your requests to the Lord but also praising Him and thanking Him for His goodness. When you pray in spirit you will find so much Joy in your heart.
This is how I found joy in my life during the early days of my marriage….. I lost my mother just in six months of my marriage. Ever since then, unhappiness gripped me. I share everything with my mother and there she had left me and gone to be with the Lord. At that time I had not received the anointing of the Holy Spirit. When I see my parents and husband pray as a family, I could see the Holy Spirit come upon them and they will be filled with Joy. I usually find a corner to sit and worry while they are filled in the presence of God. I wanted to come over this and I so eagerly anticipated the presence of God. So I started praying to God to fill me with His Holy Spirit. I pleaded Him to grant me the same joy that my husband receives while he kneels down to pay. I was conceived with my daughter, Sharon at that time, but I never gave up fasting and praying for His Holy Spirit. My family was worried about me but I wanted to cling on to the Lord with all my strength. It was at this time our Lord filled me with His Holy Spirit and I received the anointing. It was such an experience that even words cannot explain. The Lord kept filling me with His joy since the day I received the anointing of the Holy Spirit. Today I have forgotten all my worries and now the Joy in my life, is to minister to the people. I praise God all the time now, for He blesses numerous people through me. I often ask God "who am I for you to remember? Who am I, that you wish to use for your Glory?" And I praise Him all the time.

Today I encourage you to thank our Lord in every situation; be it Joyful or difficult, thank Him with all your heart and He will graciously lead you into the Promised Land.
Loving Heavenly Father, I will always thank you and praise you with all my heart for the wonders that you have done in my life. I will count your blessings and name them one by one. Fill me with your Holy Spirit that I shall rejoice. Forgive me of all my sins. Help me to seek your word and walk in your ways. I ask this in the precious name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen!
