Seek The Lord First

King David is one of the most prominent personalities in the Bible. His life was filled with happiness and pain. He is called by many names: David the conqueror, David the pious man, David the sweet singer, David the shepherd and David the penitent. His life speaks volumes; God made a mere shepherd boy to be the King of Israel. David revered the Lord, and he always kept Him before anything in his life. That’s the reason God granted him victory wherever he went.

Once, a family with emotional stress came to see me. The sister told me “Brother, my husband will retire from work 2 years from now. However, the authorities want him transferred to the northern region. As a family, we would be happy if he is transferred to Madras”. I asked her “ who is responsible for the transfer?” She told me that person was a certain central minister. It seemed an impossible situation. However, I prayed fervently for his transfer. One day, I got a chance to go to New Delhi, and my accommodation was arranged in a hotel. Unexpectedly, I received a message that a particular minister of a department was waiting with his wife to see me. I met them, and I had the chance to speak to him concerning the transfer of that brother. The Minister asked for the official’s rank number and assured me that within an hour he would be transferred to Chennai. What was impossible was made possible! The family was overjoyed for this miracle.

When you seek God every day, He will meet your needs. The pressures of your life should not become an excuse for ‘not praying.’ However, ‘Praying always’ doesn’t advocate laziness and sitting idle, it is seeking God’s presence and being led by His Spirit in all your work. Why did God grant victory to David wherever he went? The simple answer is that David sought the Lord in all his ways of life. When David did not seek the Lord, he fell into temptation and committed adultery. Therefore, praying to the Lord is of paramount importance, as it will keep you protected from the devil’s trap. From today onwards, make ‘prayer’ part and parcel of your life. Not only will you blessed by the Lord but also will be protected from the evil one.
Father, I humbly come before you and seek Your grace, to lead an upright life. Help me to pray daily without fail. Let not the hustle and bustle of the world around me, keep me from seeking You in my life. Teach me Your precepts Lord and bless me in all my undertakings, just like You blessed David and made him prosperous wherever he went.

In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen
