Love to Obey

Sis. Evangeline Paul Dhinakaran
02 Dec
God wants us to love Him and have reverence to His Word. Bible says, “And now, O Israel, what does the Lord your God ask of you but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways, to love Him … and to observe the Lord’s commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good?” (Deuteronomy 10:12, 13).  However, when will a person fear the Lord and obey Him? Obedience flows only out of a loving heart.  Don’t we read in the scriptures, “... If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching.  My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him” (John 14:23).  Beloved, if your present trials have fogged your eyes from the love of God, take time to enlist all the good things you have at present.  As you do it, you will be astonished at the long list and your heart would leap with love for Him.
When my father Bro. D.G.S. Dhinakaran was in the hospital, he called each one of us and blessed us at his last moments.  He called my son Samuel near to himself and told softly “Sam, read your Bible and pray every day.  That’s all! That is very easy.”  He repeated it for three times.  His repetition highlighted the importance of God’s Word. My son Samuel does that every day out of his love for God and for his grandfather.  When Jesus went to the house of Martha and Mary, He said, “But only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her” (Luke 10:42).  What was that ‘one thing’?  It was sitting at His presence out of love! Mary sat at His feet and listened to all what He said. Since she did that, when a need arose, Jesus raised their brother Lazarus from death.
Beloved, you may say, “In my family everything is dead.  I will not have any blessings hereafter.”  Do not panic looking at the situations. Be encouraged.  God loves you.  As you heed to His word and obey His voice, you will see all the dry lands abound with plenteous harvest.  The unwise would turn to be the wisest.  The weak will become strong.  The poor will become rich! You will see the glory of God manifesting in your life.  When Jesus went to the tomb where Lazarus was, He said to Martha, “Your brother shall live.”  Today, God says the same to you.  Believe and see miracles!
Dear Father, I bring all my dead conditions before You.  Quicken them.  Remove the shame from my face. I need Your wisdom and strength to come out of my folly.  Give me the desire for the Word of God.  Let my love for You increase day by day.  In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
