Dearly Beloved, Today we are going to receive God's mercies. His mercies endures forever. The mercy of the Lord will never change. You are going to experience His mercies in your life. The psalmist says, “Have mercy on me, O God,according to your unfailing love;according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin" (Psalm 51:1,2). Likewise psalmist is pleading for God’s mercy and purification. Today this is going to be our prayer. The Bible says,“The LORD is merciful and gracious, Slow to anger, and abounding in mercy” (Psalms 103:8). Let us repent for our transgression and ask God to show his compassion on us. The Bible says,”If our hearts condemn us, we know that God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything” (1 John 3:20). “..Their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts sometimes accusing them and at other times even defending them”(Romans 2:15). We are troubled when our own heart judges us a sinner.
A few days ago I read a funny incident. A man stood up and began to talk in a public meeting. He was showing off himself like a godly man and everyone thought that he was a righteous person. He was also pretending to be one. When he got up and started talking, suddenly, in the front row, he saw a person who was with him in prison before. Nobody knew that this person has come from prison. On seeing the inmate a fear rose in his mind. Then he said,” I will give a gift at the end of this meeting for those who do not reveal the secret of others and what they know about others”. Yes, you can gift others to keep their mouth shut about your secret sins, but how will you cover your conscience? How will you hide it from your heart? Every second our conscience will speak to us and because of which we will be troubled. How do we get cleaned from our sins? The Bible says, “Through love and faithfulness sin is atoned for; through the fear of the LORD, evil is avoided” (Proverb 16:6). Grace, means the mercy of Our God. Yes, to be cleansed our sins we need his grace and mercy which is in the Lord. The Bible says,”He is the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort (2 Corinthians 1:3) and rich in mercy(Ephesians 2:4). Are you thinking of how to receive God’s mercy upon you? The bible says,” The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”(John 1:14). His name is Jesus. He came down as a human being to live among us. The compassion that comes from him purifies us. The Bible says,” But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”(Romans 5:8). Jesus was crucified on the cross and gave his life to save us. Today, humble yourself before the Lord and confess all your sins. With His great mercies you will be saved. May the Lord bless you.
Loving gracious master, I praise and thank You because Your mercies are unending and they are new every morning. Great is Your faithfulness that we are not consumed. Please shower Your grace and mercy upon me in abundance on this day. Enable me to reflect Your virtues of having love and compassion and being slow to anger on my fellow-beings. Help me to exalt Your name in everything that I do on this day. May my thoughts, words and deeds bring glory to Your name now and forever. In Jesus name, Amen.
