Act Of Goodness

Dearly Beloved,

When Jesus walked this earth 2000 years ago, He went about doing good, wherever He went, through different cities and towns. Not, even once, He turned His back on all those, who came to seek His help. As children of God, this is what is expected from you; to do good at all times, “ Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act” (Proverbs 3:27).This way, the spiritual fruits of goodness will be manifested in you.

Many year back, in a certain house, a small child, swallowed a coin and was writhing in pain. There happened to be a doctor, staying close to their house. The parents, with the child, immediately rushed to this doctor. They knocked the door, but no response. They kept banging the door, saying, “ Please open the door, our child is in pain; she is dying”. This doctor, had the habit of going to bed at 10 pm. Also, he had his own policy, not to attend any patient after 10 pm. The father, was knocking at the door for an hour, the doctor didn’t respond at all. The child, thus died in the father’s arms. As years went by, the doctor’s child fell sick one day. He too rushed from one place to another, to get her child treated. Sadly, the child died.
My friend, the famous adage goes, “ As you sow, so shall you reap”. Whenever and wherever you have the chance to do good to others, you should never miss it. When you do this, God will reward you at the right time, just as is promised in the scripture, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up” ( Galatians 6:9). All these acts of yours will be pleasing to God and He will reward you for all your good deeds. You have been favored when an opportunity to serve in this manner arises. You are not to do it only when it is convenient or when it will contribute to your fame, but you should do it when you have the opportunity, no matter how often it occurs or how much self-denial it takes and God is ever mindful of your deeds, “Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you”( Matthew 6:4).

You could feel there is so much work to be done that you cannot possibly do it all. There are so many needs, so many calls on your time, energy, and finances, and there is often so much ingratitude among those you try to benefit that, you can easily become exhausted and disheartened. But, your Heavenly Father, will reward you for all your acts of goodness, done to others.
Loving God, I thank you for blessing me with all the good things in life. Help me to, extend the act of goodness to all those in need. Give me the strength, to never get wearied of helping others.

In Jesus’ most precious name I pray.
