Words Of Grace And Comfort

Bro. D.G.S Dhinakaran

At times, we are so impulsive that we speak not knowing the repercussions. Later, when we realize of not to have spoken such words, we will blame our circumstances for our impulsive nature. We read in the Bible, “Intelligent people think before they speak; what they say is then more persuasive” (Proverbs 16:23).That is why the Bible reminds us that “The tongue has the power of life and death and those who love it will eat its fruit” (Proverbs 18:21).
Jesus was anointed to preach the good tidings to the poor. The Bible says “Pleasant words are as  honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and healing to the bones”(Proverbs 16:24). Jesus always spoke words of grace and comfort. One day a man affected with palsy was brought to Him. The Bible says “… For the LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart” (1 Samuel 16: 7). Jesus knew about his past life and found that this man was sick because of his own sin, but he was brokenhearted, when brought to Jesus. When Jesus saw this man, a great compassion came within Him. Nobody wanted this man. He was sinking in sin and now he was totally disabled. Jesus spoke “Son, your sins are forgiven”, which were words of grace. That man was healed at that very moment. Yes! Lord Jesus Christ was sent to preach good tidings of peace, words of grace and words of mercy.
Jesus never came in to this world to condemn us. He came to heal the sick and deliver people from the powers of the evil one. Words of grace and comfort are spoken when we are filled with the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ was born of the spirit and so whatever He spoke, was done accordingly. According to the Bible, whatever you say shall be done for you as it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved” (Romans 10:10). If you confess that by His stripes you are healed, then you will be healed. On the contrary, if you murmur and complain of your sickness then you are prolonging your healing. Similarly, if you are facing any hardship and become a victim of self-pity then you can never get out of that situation. However, if you confess, “I am more than a conqueror” you will surely be victorious. Not only that, when you speak words of promise to other people, they too will be blessed. So, be careful of what you speak!
Loving Father,

I seek Your grace to speak very cautiously. Help me claim Your unfailing promises even in darkest hour, for You alone can deliver me and  grant me victory over my problems. May my words be pleasing and comforting to people around me and through me may they know Your constant love.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
