The true light that gives you light!!

“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you.”     (Isaiah 60:1)
Dearly Beloved,

Today’s meditation will be a blessing to you not only for this earthly living but also for your spiritual life. People who look at you will testify, “There is brightness in this person’s face.” Through you God’s name will be glorified. The verse, “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you” (Isaiah 60:1) clearly indicates that it is conditional—the criteria being the Glory of the Lord rises or mounts up on us.

When we say, “Arise and Shine”, the first thing that comes to our mind is the sun. Yes, how bright are the rays of the sun! Once a school teacher asked the children, “which is bigger, the sun or the moon?” A little boy answered, “Moon is the biggest.” The teacher asked him why he said so and the child with the little knowledge that he had, replied, “When the night comes, darkness covers the earth. In that darkness, it is only the moon that gives us light. Day time is already bright and so we are not able to see the brightness in full. Hence, the moon is greater and bigger.” Yes, how true is the saying of the little boy.
Dearly beloved, likewise Satan blinds our eyes from seeing in the brightness of God. This is what St. Paul says, “The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God” (2 Corinthians 4:4). Satan stops us from arising to shine by blinding our spiritual eyes. This is what we read, “See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the LORD rises upon you and His glory appears over you” (Isaiah 60:2). However deep we are sunk in darkness, God’s light will radiate upon us. This brightness will remove all our darkness and make us holy.

God wants us to arise and shine, clothed with His power, in the midst temptations that we come across in this world. Today ask the Lord to let you arise and shine. As found in Proverbs 4:18, “The path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, shining ever brighter till the full light of day”, God will enable your path to be bright as the sun.
Loving and Gracious Heavenly Father,

You are a God of love and compassion. You deliver people from bondages and temptations. So Lord, deliver me from all the problems in my life. Let your countenance shine upon me. Let me give light to people who are living in darkness. Take me and use me for this purpose as I place myself in Your hands. Strengthen me to arise and shine for you.

I pray in the sweet name of Jesus,
