Shield of Divine Favor

Dr. Paul Dhinakaran
06 May
My precious friend, today’s promise is found in Psalm 5:12. It says “Surely, Lord, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield.” In The Bible, we read about King Balak who hired prophet Balaam to curse the children of Israel.   However, Balaam realized that “It pleased the Lord to bless Israel” (Numbers 24:1). Yes! The Lord delights pouring out his blessings upon his people.

In the year 1985, my father's kidneys failed. Much to our dismay, in 1986, my sister Angel was killed in a cruel car accident. In our state of devastation, the criticism of few wicked people broke our hearts further more. We cried out to the Lord asking why he had allowed this. One day, the Holy Spirit came. He rose up within us and said “My children, I will not destroy your enemies. Instead I will bless you many times more because you have been faithful in the midst of all this agony. I will raise you up. It is the blessing that I give you, which will destroy your enemies.”
True indeed! It is God's heart to bless the righteous and surround them with his favor as the shield. When this favor comes upon us, it is called as divine favor, divine Life, and divine power as said in II Peter 1:3. This divine blessing not only gives us everything that we need for our everyday life but also the glory and goodness of God to walk after him for the coming world. Yes my child! God's favor is upon you to provide everything for you in this world and to provide his Glory for the next world. Let this blessing comes upon you - God's beloved righteous child. God bless you.
Prayer:
My loving heavenly Father,

Thank you for this beautiful promise verse. Help me to live a righteous life and receive your divine grace and goodness for this world and for the world to come. I thank you Lord for it is your delight to bless me.

In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
