Bear the yoke while young

Dear friend, today’s promise is taken from Matthew 11:30 where Jesus says, “For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” He says, “Take my yoke upon you for it is easy and my burden is light. Come unto me all that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.” What is carrying the yoke of Christ? What is it to carry the burden of Christ? Jesus says in Luke 9:23, ““Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.”

Jesus says that if a person wants to follow Him, he/she has to deny himself/herself every day. To deny oneself is to deny the pleasures of the world. We should deny placing our trust on the people of the world and the things of the world. He also says that we should carry our cross. Just like Jesus carried His cross He wants us to carry our cross. Carrying the cross is not unto condemnation but it is to do the will of God. Yes, doing the will of God for your life is carrying your cross for your life.
In Lamentations 3:27 God says, “It is good for a man to bear the yoke while he is young.” Joseph did that. He went through much sorrow, pain, loss and so he carried a great yoke when he was very young. But God was with him. Even though Joseph carried the suffering at a very young age, he also fulfilled the will of God in his life. That’s why God’s wisdom overflowed and he could save millions of people by supernaturally knowing God’s will and that elevated him and made him ruler over a mighty nation. He had a wonderful wife and children and all the power, wealth and the grace to carry his family too. It is good to bear your yoke when you are young by doing the will of God alone which will bring you lifelong blessing and great elevation. That’s why the scripture says in Jeremiah 6:16, “This is what the LORD says: “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.”” The good way is Jesus Christ. He will lead you into His plan. You will have rest, honor and elevation.
Prayer:
Loving Father,

Enable me to do Your will. Reveal Your plan for my life. Help me bear the yoke while young. Fulfill Your promise and give me rest, elevation and honor for Your glory. Thank You Jesus for doing so.

In Jesus’ precious name, I pray. Amen.
