Take one step at a time
Sis. Evangeline Paul Dhinakaran
Dear friend, today's promise verse is from the book of I Chronicles 22:16. In this verse, King David encouraged his son Solomon to build the temple of God, saying, "Arise and begin working, and may the Lord be with you." David had prepared everything for the construction of the temple, such as the land, gold, silver, wood, stone, bronze, iron, and even workmen. So, he told Solomon that he had everything he needed to start building the temple and that he should get to work. Solomon obeyed his father's words and built a magnificent temple for God to dwell in. Now, just like Solomon, it's time for you to work on your own temple.
What is your temple? As per I Corinthians 3:16, "You are the temple of God." It means that the Lord dwells in your temple. However, for God to dwell inside you, you need to work out your salvation. Once you do that, God will work in you. The Lord who has begun a good work in you will continue to work in you until the coming of the Lord. In I Chronicles 22:12 & 13, King David gave instructions to Solomon. He advised him to keep God's word, be strong and courageous, and not to be fearful or dismayed. These three things are crucial to work out our salvation. Therefore, it's essential to get busy and come out of our comfort zone, be sensitive to the Holy Spirit, and persevere in doing God's work. Above all, it's essential to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit. When we listen to the Holy Spirit, He will help us take one step at a time.
When God speaks, He will only use one word, not narrate the entire story. He will say, 'My child, do this.' He speaks in a soft and gentle voice because you cannot accomplish everything at once. It's important to be aware of the Holy Spirit and to work towards your salvation. This way, God will guide you in the right direction, and you won't stray from the path. You will keep your body, which is God's temple, holy. 'Get up and start working!' The Lord will be there to help you, residing within you as you strive to work out your salvation. Take things one step at a time.
PRAYER:
Dear Lord, I am grateful for encouraging me to work on my salvation. I know I cannot do this alone, and I need Your help. Please guide me and protect me from all the temptations and snares that will lead me away from Your path. I pray that You will lead me one step at a time and help me to stay on the right path. Please cleanse me from all my unrighteous deeds and thoughts and make me pure. Your word says that my body is Your temple. I pray that this temple of Yours will always be clean and filled with Your glory. Holy Spirit, I ask for Your help to make me strong and holy. I believe that You have empowered me to work on my salvation and build this temple so that You can dwell within me in all Your glory. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
