Love your Enemies

In the year 1986, when my sister died in a gruesome car accident, our hearts were broken into smithereens. We were in a valley of tears. At the same time, the people for whom my father had prayed at their time of crisis, stood against us. They said wrong things about us. We cried saying, “Lord, Angel has already gone. Why are you allowing these people to break our hearts?” He said “Son, trust Me and walk behind Me. Remember, I am not going to destroy your enemies; but I am going to bless you more.” We forgave all those who stood against us. Days rolled on. God fulfilled what He promised us! The same people who rose against us came running in search of us. Our ministry too, had grown by leaps and bounds. All around the world, God’s name was glorified.

We read in the Bible about Job, a devout servant of God. Didn't Job face several loses? Yes, he lost his children, wealth, health and all the blessings that God had given him. The people who praised Job when he was wealthy turned around to humiliate him. His wife spoke ill about him. In such a situation Job stands strong in his faith on God. He says, "Though he slay me, yet will I hope in him; I will surely defend my ways to his face"(Job 13:15). The faith that Job had on God did not let him to be ashamed. The Lord blessed the latter part of Job's life more than the former part. God blessed him to receive a double measure of what he had lost. The word of God says that, God blessed Job abundantly that all his friends, brothers and sisters came to him and greeted him. (Job 42:10-17).
My dearly beloved, are you facing a similar situation today? Are there people who received good from you, rising against you now? Do not worry about the people who rage against you. Choose to love your enemies. Do not have any grudges against them. It is not for you to judge them either. Trust in the Lord always and depend on Him at all times. Our Lord Jesus says, “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:43-45). As a child of God, love has already been poured into your hearts through the Holy Spirit. So, just show love. Do not stop doing good. You will reap a rich harvest at the right time.
Loving heavenly Father,
I come before You with the unbearable pain caused by some people, though I did good to them. I thank You for Your love that is in me already. May Your love abound in me so that I will have the heart to forgive them.
In Jesus’ name I pray,
