Look Unto Jesus And Not Unto Your Troubling Situation

Dearly Beloved,
It often happens that sometimes you tend to focus more on your problems than to Jesus. Even though you know that Jesus is with you, yet you chose to focus on the troubles, life brings in your life. That could be if you think you, could deal with it on your own, you trust more on your strength. But remember bible calls such people ‘blessed’ who trust in the Lord, “But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him.”( Jeremiah 17:7)

Once, it so happened that Jesus told His disciples to get the boat ready as they would be going to the other side of the sea. While they were ferrying, Jesus fell asleep on the boat and there arose a great storm. So much so, that their boat started to sink. With the fear of sinking, the disciples came close to Jesus  and woke Him up, crying out that Jesus should help them as they are about to sink. On this, Jesus got up and rebuked the raging storm but at the same time He was annoyed at His disciples, “He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” ( Mark 4:40).
My friend, the raging storm didn’t wake Jesus from His sleep but it was the cries of His disciples that woke Him up. Jesus was sure that they would reach the other side. That’s the reason He wasn’t worried nor did the turbulent sea disturb Him. He was sleeping peacefully. But, even though Jesus was with the disciples, they were scared and forgot the mighty power, Jesus was with them. They lost all their peace and started looking at the troubled sea. They forgot Jesus’ words and cried out to Him, to save them as they were dying.

Beloved, do you see yourself in such a situation? Then stop looking at your troubles, hard-ships, impossible act. Start looking at God’s promises. Hold on to God’s words. God’s promises are like pillows, which will provide great comfort to you. You will begin to worry and start crying about your struggles, when you forget God’s promises. Though you know that Jesus has been with you in the past and has worked great miracles for you and your family, yet the very next moment when you’re surrounded by tough situation you forget Jesus, His promises. That’s what happened with His disciples. The disciples were eye-witness to all the miracles that Jesus did before them. Though Jesus was with them in the same boat, yet their faith wavered. That’s why Jesus said, “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it will obey you”( Luke 17:6). So have faith in Jesus and reach your destiny with His assurance. No problem will ever sink you, because you have Jesus with you.
Loving Father,
I confess to have my faith wavered. But from now on, increase my faith. Help me to stay strong in your words, irrespective of my troubles and hard-ships. I believe to sail through all my troubling situations with ease through your promises.
In the most precious name of Jesus I pray.
