Greed For Money Ruins One’s Life

Dearly Beloved,
It is true that we all require many things to survive in this world. Out of those many things, one of it is money. There is a difference between desire and requirement. If you require money, you will have your needs fulfilled but if you desire money, you tend to get addicted to it. You will never be satisfied with what you have and thus your love for money grows and the end of it is only grief, “ For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs”. (1 Timothy 6:10)

Love of money is a form of evil. The more you desire for it, the more it pulls you like a magnet. And then you fall into the trap of the evil one, unaware of what you are doing is correct or incorrect. This leads to your downfall. Money is required to survive in this world. But it is not everything. The lust for money destroys a person’s life, his career, his family, everything. Not only that, it drives away all your peace and happiness that you once enjoyed. It drives you through sorrow. That’s the reason, Jesus says it loud and clear in Luke 12:15, Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions”. Let Holy Spirit take control of your finances. This way, you will not desire for money but will be content with what you have and ultimately thank the Lord.
I’m reminded of an article that I read about a famous Indian. His image was tarnished because of his lust for money. The Indian was awarded, the MD degree in Medicine in United States of America at an early age of about 17 years. He created a record. When he returned to India, he was a recipient to a great honor and praise. All most all the newspaper articles praised him highly. But years, later, he made the news again. This time it was for all wrong reasons. He was arrested and put behind bars. Because of his impudent behavior towards his sister-in-law for demanding dowry. This great person was at one point regarded highly by all, but later he was a victim of controversy.

Therefore, my dear friends, you have to be very cautious in life. It is God alone who will fulfill all the desire of your life. Money is just a means to get you things to survive in this world and nothing more than that. If you crave for it, it will lead you to your downfall. That’s why it says in Proverbs 30:9, “Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say, ‘Who is the LORD?” So lust for money not only destroys your life but it also drifts you away from God. All you need to do is thank the Lord for what you have and let God’s spirit take control of your finances.
Mighty God,
I pray remove within me all the lust for money. May I be content with you have blessed me with. It’s my faith that you will fulfill all that I want in life. Holy Spirit, take control of all that I own, especially my finances.
In Jesus’ most precious name I pray.
