When we are blessed with everything that we need, we tend to forget God and the ways that He had led us. Soon we are busy with our own ways and we even start bragging about our hard work and achievements. We take the praises that is due to the Lord to ourselves and boast about the momentary wealth and fame that we had gained.  It is true that our Lord wants us to be fruitful. The Bible says that being fruitful in every good work is pleasing in the sight of the Lord (Colossians 1:10). We need to make sure that our deeds are good no matter what it yields us.

Speaking about the good works, the Bible says what our Lord Jesus did when He was in this world. Jesus says, “God sent Me to heal the broken hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, to comfort all those who mourn...” (Isaiah 61:1-3). Yes, Jesus was compassionate towards the broken hearted that He not only healed them but also liberated them and comforted them. The Psalmist says "The Lord is close to the broken hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit" (Psalm 34:18). This also means He hates the pride of man and ungodliness.
There was an officer in a company. Though he was a Christian, he never came forward to do good things to those who came seeking his help. When asked why he did not do good things, he would give many excuses as if he was a righteous man. Do you know what happened to him? None of his subordinates bothered to enquire about him from the moment he retired from his service. Actually they looked down upon him in a sarcastic way. Oh, what a pity! Let not this situation come to you. Therefore remember to do as much good as possible when it is in the power of your hand to do so.

Scripture to life
Have you gone away from the Lord? Have you forgotten to thank Him for the good life that He has given you? Come to Him with a broken heart and a crushed spirit; He is ready to do good to those who call upon Him. Let us as His children, also walk in ways that He has shown us and do good to others to the best of our ability. The Bible says, “Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in the power of your hand to do so” (Proverbs 3:27). According to this divine instruction, let us be watchful in doing good to others at all times.
Wonderful Saviour, You gave Your life on the cross to make people receive an abundant life. In the same way, fill my life with Your love so as to do good to others. Give me Your grace to be a source of help to those in need and pain. In Jesus’ precious name I pray, Amen.
